These terms govern your use of the RentMate platform. By creating an account you agree to them. RentMate is provided by RentMate NZ Limited (NZBN to be confirmed), a New Zealand company based in Auckland.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under New Zealand law. Tradespeople offering regulated work (plumbing, gasfitting, drainlaying, electrical, building) must hold valid registration with the relevant board (PGDB, EWRB, LBP).
2. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, that we reasonably suspect of fraud, or that present a risk to other users.
3. Acceptable use
- Do not use RentMate to file fraudulent tickets, submit fake quotes, or impersonate another person or business.
- Do not attempt to circumvent the scope-verification controls that govern which jobs reach which tradespeople.
- Do not extract user data from the platform via scraping, automation, or API misuse.
- Respect the Residential Tenancies Act when scheduling entry to a tenancy.
4. Subscriptions and payment
Subscription pricing is published on the pricing page. Prices are in NZD and include GST. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly unless cancelled. You may cancel any time; access continues to the end of the current billing period. Refunds are at our discretion and generally limited to clear platform failure.
5. Off-platform invoicing
When a quote is accepted, the tradesperson invoices the landlord directly. RentMate does not handle payment between landlord and tradesperson. We are not a payment processor and do not hold funds.
6. Content and IP
You retain ownership of the content you upload (photos, messages, quotes). You grant RentMate a licence to display and process it solely for operating the platform. We retain ownership of the platform itself, including the design system, codebase, and documentation.
7. Privacy
See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information.
8. Service level
We target high availability but make no formal SLA during the closed pilot. We will notify users of planned maintenance windows.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, RentMate's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the quality of work performed by tradespeople (which is a matter between the tradesperson, the landlord, and the relevant regulator).
10. Disputes
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Disputes go to the New Zealand courts. Consumer rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 are not affected.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance.
12. Contact
These terms are a working draft prepared internally. A New Zealand-qualified solicitor will review and finalise this document before RentMate is opened to the public.
